Sometimes being a little model can be exhausting LOL

And you gotta love that little smile on their son’s face. How cute is that?

The Glendora Arboretum has a beautiful backdrop of green hedges and trees, which glow and light up beautifully with the setting sun.

We pulled mom over to the side for some quick pregnancy or maternity photos. Also, that gives the little son a chance to run around and have some fun between family photos.

There were a good number of yellow and purple flowers in bloom, so we positioned the little guy to be surrounded by flowers while he laughed and giggled away.

We tossed the little guy up and down for some fun family photos.

And how cute is this for a cute Glendora family photograph?

We squeezed in maternity photos, to capture this specific time of the pregnancy.

Starting with Brother and Sister Portraits

Here are the two, both dressed and matching in blue, brother and sister hanging out. How cute are these family photos?!

The brother started playing the guitar. We love it when our families bring props for a photo session, since it adds personality and flair to it. The guitar is something specific to their family.

And now the whole family

We started capturing the whole family after easing in with the brother-sister family photos.

How beautiful is this background for a family photo in Orange County.

We found a rocky creek bed or stream bed for another backdrop for our portraits.

We then got more family photos in front of a tunnel in Irvine.

Starting on a Large Wooden Log in San Dimas

We started the Mommy and Me family photos on a log in Bonelli Park, where our little guy was able to have fun walking up and down the log.

After a little fun and games, we sat the mother and son down for say “cheese photos.” A good family portrait session is about getting both traditional/posed family photos and candid/fun family photos.

We then headed down the trail for a stroll, which also gives us plenty of opportunities for cute hand-holding family photography.

And how cute is this photo of our mother holding her son upside down?

We stopped at a very large tree with another log laying under it to finish up the quick family session (this was shot during a mini-session marathon).

And just look at that smile and laugh!

Mommy and Me Family Photography

This is a great example of focusing on the bond that a mother has with her child. Mommy and Me family photos are something that Judy specializes in, considering her own experience as a loving mother with our two little daughters.

Gotta love family photos of a brother and sister being silly.

We used one of the nearby trees as a log to sit the family on.

And kids will always be kids, so why not immortalize it with an awesome photo?

We then wandered over to a small, dry creek bed for more photos with rocks and trees.

The bike and hiking trail nearby made for great walking family photos.

And we had to use the tunnel to get a different, more modern look.

This shows an Irvine family photography session at the Jeffrey Open Trail and Park in Orange County. Family photos with the {G} family is a yearly thing and a pleasure for us to capture, slowly watching their two children grow older and taller. The many suburbs of Irvine are sectioned into villages. This family photography session was in Woodbury, right next to the Grove and Northwood. The Jeffrey Open Trail is a great spot for natural and relaxed family photos.

Here are two sisters posing together for a family photo!

And you have to love it when there are fall leaves to toss in the air.

And how cute is this family photo of all of them together. The great thing about this is soon that little baby boy will get to join his sister at school one day.

Here are two sisters that both go to the school. Aren’t they so precious?

It’s a beautiful thing watching two sisters playing an laughing in family photos, and we would know considering that we have two little girls ourselves.

And here’s the whole family going for a stroll.

We brought a picture frame as a prop to add some fun to the family portraits. It’s a portrait of a portrait?

And here’s another family starting off the session with the whole family. Some sessions start with just the kids, while some start with the whole family. Judy tries to figure out the best way to capture the images, and timing the kids is very important (especially if it’s near a nap time)!

And here’s a brother and sister holding hands together.

Isn’t that so adorable seeing them like that. We can only imagine that he’ll be there to protect her in high school from the other boys!

And here’s the whole family together. If Judy tries to recreate this family photo in five years, I’m sure those little kids will be making funny faces.

Higginbotham Park Family Photography

This is a great example of how Judy can handle a large number of family photos in a short period of time. It’s stressful, but it was for a good cause and we got a lot of awesome family photos. Higginbotham park is one of those hidden local gems that was great for family photography, but also a great playground for the kids that were hanging out with their preschool classmates. These family portraits included many trees and leaves in the background, with a very natural and green backdrop.

Starting the Maternity Photos with a Stuffed Toy

We started the pregnancy photos with a stuffed animal for their little baby girl.

Here are pregnancy photos of our pregnant mother holding a pink parasol umbrella, wearing a two-tone white and red maternity dress.

We then took them to a nearby stream for more pregnancy photos. We always worry about the safety of our pregnant couples, so we brought a safe bug spray without deet.

And then we got more maternity photos next to a fallen tree or log. She switched her maternity dress to a more muted pink and turquoise dress.

And the name of the baby girl … ABBY! A convenient anagram for baby.

They also brought the printout of the sonogram as a prop for the maternity photography portrait session.

Maternity Photos San Dimas

This is a San Dimas maternity photography portrait session at Walnut Creek Park. Our pregnant couple brought lots of props and accessories, including a baby elephant stuffed animal, wooden blocks that spell the baby’s name (Abby), a printout of the sonogram, and a pink parasol umbrella. Our pregnant mother wore a two-tone white and red maternity dress for the first half of the session. For the second half, she switched to a pink and turquoise maternity dress. When changing outfits, we always recommend timing it correctly and accurately, since we’d rather be taking more pregnancy photos than waiting for clothing changes. More than one change during a session is not recommended due to time restraints. San Dimas is our hometown, and we offer discounted prices for sessions done here locally.

Starting Family Photos in Irvine

We started their family portrait session in a wild grass field surrounded by trees. It’s a perfect natural setting for the 6 adults and 2 fur babies.

More Portraits on a Creek Bed

We moved on to a creek bed for more family photos, using it to get more variations of the family.

Just look at these yellow fall leaves in the background. Aren’t they amazing?!

We got some family portraits of just the mom and dad together, which was nice since they don’t like taking photos. The mom confided in Judy afterward that Judy made her feel very comfortable during the session, which has never happened for her before.

We finished the family photography session in a long tunnel, giving an urban and modern look to the family photography (while in Irvine, which is not that).

This is the {N} family photography portrait session in Irvine, Orange County. We chose Jeffrey Open Space Trail for the location, which is a perfect park with trees, grass fields, and even a tunnel that gives us a different look and feel from the typical Irvine family portraits (urban and modern vs. suburban and rural). Irvine is a suburban community in Orange County that has many parks and other recreational spaces, but for an urban look one has to look toward Los Angeles.

Starting at a Park in Irvine

We started at Jeffrey Open Space Trail in Irvine, Orange County. There was a nice spot of clumpy grass under a tree that was perfect for starting this mini-session with our Chinese family of four.

Judy also did individual portraits of each child, using the tree as a prop in the family photo.

And here’s the mother proudly with her two sons.

And the father with his two sons, acting like most fathers do!

This is the Irvine family photography portrait session of the {C} family in Irvine, Orange County. They have two sons (two brothers taking family photos together) and the wore a muted color palette for their annual Christmas family photos. Starting at a Creek Bed in Irvine

We started in a dry creek bed with rocks, leaves, and trees in the background, doing individual family portraits of their daughter.

Then we got the whole family together for family photos.

Our mother is a survivor and proud amputee, so it’s awesome seeing her over the years wear that with confidence.

We walked over to a small field covered in small purple wildflowers and long grass.

Then we took the time to get our parents for couple photos together. We had shot their wedding a long time ago, so it’s really cool revisiting that connection.

We did this family photography portrait session at Jeffrey Open Space Trail in Irvine, bordering the Woodbury and Northwood neighborhoods. They have one daughter (only child) and are a loving family of three. The park is Jeffrey Open Space Trail in Irvine, a beautiful local park with grass fields, trees, and a dry creek bed. We like this location for people that want very natural and green elements to their family photography.
