Gotta love it when they get the green light to stick their hand in the frosting. No joke, half the time they freeze and don’t know what to do (since it’s hands off normally) and the other half that goes in….some freak out a little LOL! The little guy didn’t have the problem at all!

….until about now, we can see it on his face that the texture may not be all that it’s meant to be….

And it’s time to vocalize that!

Truthfully, we still love the moment, smiles or cries, since it’s now a memory of this time in life. We look back fondly on those memories with our own children.

Fun Cake Smash Photography in San Dimas

This is a cake smash photography session in a rustic part of San Dimas, CA (in the east part of Los Angeles County). Sometimes you get a super happy 1yo, sometimes you don’t. But we always get cute and unforgettable memories that are now mounted up on walls in a home. True North Equine is based in San Dimas at the Sycamore Canyon Equestrian Center. It’s right next to Horsethief Canyon Park, which has plenty of hiking trails and riding trails.

Love that he has two horses that he has trained and bonded with, so the more the merrier!

We then trotted down to Horsethief Canyon Park for horse portraits along trails with wooden fences.

And we love seeing how the trainer has bonded with his horse, giving the horse hugs and kisses.

This is a great example of equine photography in San Dimas, starting at an equestrian center (in this case, Sycamore Equestrian Center) and wandering around local trails (Horsethief Canyon Park). Horse portrait photography is a great way to show the relationship, bond, and love between a trainer and their horse (or horses). In this case, we got to capture him with multiple horses. He also finished off the look with a legit cowboy hat, which what better photoshoot than a horse/equine photography session for that look.

Sycamore Canyon Equestrian Center is located right next to Horsethief Canyon Park, which has a ton of hiking trails perfect for horseback riding. Gotta love the glow of the sunset in the background.

Here in San Dimas, we have a lot of hiking and riding trails with rustic wooden fences and dirt trails with scenic vegetation.

Equine photography shows the bond between the trainer and the horse, which is forged in time and bonded with numerous rides.

And we love the classic look of black and white photography for some of the images.

Here is a beautiful maternity photo in the rustic trees. It’s kind of cool that we are in Orange County and this a real spot.

We love the rustic look of a wooden fence along a hiking trail. It adds perspective and character to the maternity photos.

The man-made lakes here have docks that are amazing for the reflection on the water.

And during the fall you have to use leaves in some way, so why not from directly above!

Yorba Linda Maternity Photos

I know, I know: Yorba Regional Park is in Anaheim, not Yorba Linda. But having lived in Yorba Linda long ago, we know that Yorba Regional Park is just one of those local spots you can hop over to for recreational fun. We have memories cycling up and down the Santa Ana River, which borders the South side of Yorba Regional Park. Maternity photos are a specialty of Judy, since she knows the whole process personally.

And we always get just the children together. Here we have a brother with two sisters, so the poor guy is outnumbered LOL

We love the way the sun backlights the reeds surrounding the lake.

And this is an awesome shot of our family sitting on a dock next to one of the multiple lakes at Yorba Regional Park. Bonus points for getting a really cool reflection in the water!

We got individual portraits of each of the three children, also using a wooden fence lining one of the trails.

And then we get permutations such as each parent with each of the kids, or all girls or all boys.

Yorba Regional Park Family Photography

Yorba Regional Park is a large public park in Yorba Linda, Orange County. It’s a great park with many playgrounds, multiple lakes (and swam-shaped paddle boats), winding trails, and large patches of trees and vegetation. It’s saddled up next to the Santa Ana River, which is right next to the 91 freeway.

At Noguchi Garden, there is this artistic and modern pyramid up against a large white wall. The art installation is called California Scenario and is a collection of art installations that represent the Segerstrom family and Southern California.

And in front of the pyramid there is a man-made stream with small rocks as part of the art installation.

And it’s always fun to get the two brothers together.

And of course the kids see the large pyramid as a giant slide!

And we love it when we get those silly moments that are unique to their family, like this funny family photo.

There is a cool vertical water fountain that is amazing for photo composition.

There is a large desert mound with gravel and desert plants that also makes for a great backdrop.

Noguchi Garden Family Photography

This is one of those places where it’s a family photographer’s playground. There are so many backgrounds, angles, and lighting scenarios that make it so wonderful to photograph a location like this. It’s easily one of our favorite places for family photography in Orange County.

Downtown Claremont Family Photos

This is a downtown Claremont family photography portrait session with an Asian family of four (with two sons). It showcases family photos that we can get in the neighborhood surrounding downtown Claremont on the very east border of Los Angeles County. Claremont is the last city on the border right before it turns into San Bernardino County.

We are firm believers that love is love, and this is a beautiful example of a queer family that is just that: love!

This is an LGBTQ+ family photography portrait session of two lesbian mothers with their beautiful baby daughter. We are supportive of queer families and see the beauty in every family, since love is love! Also, the location of downtown Claremont was a perfect setting for their family photography.

After grad photography at Disneyland, we hopped over to California Adventures to end the portrait session.

And one of the best things about Southern California are the palm trees that grace our neighborhoods and campuses. Orange County is covered in this iconic tree.

One of the best spots for CSUF grad photos is at the very large TITANS logo in the middle of the Fullerton campus. It’s larger than life, unless you use forced perspective to get your subject larger than it!

And here is the California State University Fullerton Seal in a graduation photo.

Here is the main entrance on the south side of the Fullerton campus, framed with iconic palm trees.

And we LOVE this awesome grad photo of the CSUF gate and our soon-to-be grad framing it perfectly!

Our grad is a product of the visual arts program at CSUF, so it was only fitting to get a few images after dusk in front of the visual arts building.
